APPLICATION
Tryout Application Due March 20th by 5 pm
Please submit your application in a timely manner. The tryout application includes parent and athlete information as well as a medical history and physical form to upload. In addition to those, there is a section with our handbook, demerits, and summer dates. We are asking each athlete to provide confirmation that they have read and agree to each of these items.
New to Ursuline: Upon acceptance to Ursuline, please complete the tryout application. You cannot complete the tryout application until you are accepted and pay your deposit. New/Transfer students must also submit a proof of enrollment with deposit receipt.
Please note, if an applicant’s physical expires before or during try outs, the applicant will not be able to participate until a new physical is completed and turned into the head coach.
UIL PAPERWORK
Upload UIL Forms by March 20th
The UIL forms are also a requirement for tryouts. These include: a Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Form, a Concussion Acknowledgment Form, and UIL Acknowledgment of Rules.
TRYOUT MATERIAL
Videos of a cheer, chant, and dance will be posted on Sunday, March 23rd. The dance music, fight song, and a stunt video will also be posted.
A video of the fight song will also be available. This will not be a scored part of tryouts, but will be reviewed at the tryout clinic.
TRYOUT CLINIC
March 25th - March 27th 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm at Jesuit
Day 1: Review the material the athletes learned from the videos released on March 23rd followed by stunt group assignments.
Day 2: Stunt evaluations, material review, fight song performances.
Day 3: Mock tryouts will provide the girls with an opportunity to rehearse alongside their designated partner. Additionally, larger groups will be tasked with performing the chant in order to receive a score.

INFORMATION
Attire:
Athletes are expected to wear cheer or tennis shoes with appropriately fitted athletic clothes throughout all of tryouts. We encourage bows, ribbons, and fun colors during the clinic. Shorts or skirts must have liners or briefs can be worn. For tryouts, the girls are required to wear black or navy bottoms and a plain white top with no brands, logos, or names visible. Absolutely no jewelry should be worn throughout the clinic and tryouts.
Video submission:
Video tryouts are considered on a case by case basis with the full approval of the coaching staff.
All skills must be performed on a dead mat, field, or basketball court without spotting assistance.
Videos will be judged by the judges on March 28th or 29th depending on the grade level. No videos will be accepted after March 29th.
As you prepare:
All skills are judged on a dead mat with no assistance.
We recommend that you video your skills often in case there is a need to submit a video tryout.
Tryout Clinics and Tryouts are not recorded or open to the public.
Tryout scores are not released.
